This area will give you some insight into how I live outside my professional career.

Volunteer Work

I have given a lot back to my community by volunteering for over 20 years.  Here are some of the highlights to my volunteer work;

  • Board member of Mastic Sports Club for over 20 year holding positions of Registrar, Treasurer and finally President.  This was a sports organization with approximately 1300 kids covering sports such as Soccer, Baseball, Softball, Basketball and activities for Special Needs
  • Petitioned the Suffolk County Legislature to unanimously approve a resolution providing 20 acres of soccer fields to the sports club with a 30 year land-use agreement
  • President of the East End Memorial Soccer Tournament.  This tournament is run each August for boys and girls travel teams from U9 through U17.  All proceeds go toward scholarships to students moving on to college.  We promote community service which is a huge factor in acquiring the scholarship.  To date the tournament has raised over $750,000
  • Past Baseball Coach
  • Past Soccer Coach
  • Past manager/administrator for a Premier Travel Team winning numerous prestigious tournaments and college showcases.  Had two teams with a combined total of 40 players where I was instrumental in having 25 of them obtain scholarships to play soccer in NCAA D1 colleges
  • Past administrator for the U16/17 United States Youth Soccer Regional Premier Soccer League (teams from Maine down to West Virginia)
  • Past manager/administrator to U19 Rough Rider semi-professional soccer academy.  Brought team to a National Championship
  • Re-wired elementary school for Cat-5 networking
  • Helped build two elementary school playgrounds

Hobbies

I thoroughly enjoy staying active outside of work.  When I am not managing a technology project then I spend time;

  • Playing racquetball with friends and family
  • League bowling (where I am the Treasurer of the league)
  • Golf - my handicap isn't great but being on the fairways with friends and family brings a lot of relaxation.  I do try to play in tournaments when time permits.  I've played on courses throughout the world where my biggest thrill was playing Mission Hills in China on a course designed by Vijay Singh
  • Exercise:  push-ups and running
  • Brewing Beer:  I love craft beers and double IPA are my favorite.  I am about to move from extract brewing to all-grain.  This is another area only when time permits

I was an avid snow skier and sailboat racer but have temporarily given this up.
